I am considering using the ready seal oil based stain can it be applied over water based stain such as cabot solid color stain?
Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out.
You can’t apply oil based stain over water based. You need to strip it off to bare timber then apply the oil based.
I wouldn’t even recommend applying a different brand water based on top of an existing water based stain.
It needs to be the same stain from the same company or you risk the new stain peeling off
